PAGCOR Reduces Fees for Electronic Games to 30%: A Boost for Live Studio and Online Casino Industry The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has recently made a significant move by reducing the fees for electronic games from 35% to 30%. This change is part of an ongoing effort to boost legal online gaming operations, such as live studio games and live dealer roulette, while tackling illegal gambling activities. With a growing demand for casino studio online experiences, this reduction is expected to provide a favorable environment for both new and existing operators in the market. This shift in fees is also aimed at encouraging more companies to apply for official licenses. The reduced rates could benefit evolution games providers and game developers looking to expand their offerings, especially in popular categories such as live dealer games, which are becoming an integral part of the casino entertainment landscape. With the electronic gaming sector exceeding expectations and reaching over PHP 100bn ($1.71bn) in gross gaming revenue (GGR) by September 2024, the lower fees are expected to encourage further growth. The lower rates could especially impact low-cost live studio operations, as they can now offer more competitive services, making it easier for casinos for sale or casino studio online companies to enter the market. The move also comes in response to the significant growth of the sector. In 2024, the GGR for electronic games grew by an impressive 464.38% in Q3, compared to the same period the previous year. PAGCOR’s Chairman and CEO, Alejandro Tengco, emphasized that lowering share rates will help create a more favorable regulatory environment, fostering the transition of unregistered online gaming operators to the legal market. The number of accredited gaming service providers has also surged, rising from 49 in 2023 to 174 in 2024. This increase reflects the appeal of the casino studio online model, as more businesses look to capitalize on the regulatory changes and evolving demand for online live dealer experiences. By making these strategic adjustments, PAGCOR is solidifying its commitment to supporting both live studio gaming operators and game developers, ensuring that the Philippine gaming market remains a competitive and attractive destination for the global online casino industry.
